Brookfield’s (Middleboro, MA) custom design vane spindles are used with the Brookfield R/S-SST Rheometer, a soft solids test instrument that measures viscosity and yield stress behavior in gels, pastes, and liquid/semi-solid materials with suspended particles. Vane spindle geometry allows the spindle to be inserted into the material without compromising the sample structure. In addition, the rotational motion of vane spindles may be useful for testing low viscosity slurries. The R/S-SST with vane spindles provides not only viscosity and shear stress measurements, but also quantifies viscoelastic properties such as stiffness, consistency, and texture.
